Suzuka Kyoei Educational Institution and University of Cebu Sign Five-Year Partnership during 2nd Cebu Island English Immersion Course
From August 3 to 17, 23 students from Suzuka Secondary School and Suzuka High School joined the second annual Cebu Island English Immersion Course. Throughout the program, students enjoyed seven one-to-one English lessons every weekday, relaxed with a fun beach on Saturday, and explored the city on Sunday.
A special highlight of the program took place on Monday, August 11, when Suzuka Kyoei Educational Institution (SKEI) and the University of Cebu (UC) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue working together in education, research, and cultural exchange. The agreement was signed by SKEI President Hisataka Watanabe, supported by Global English Program Coordinator Gerardo Olea, along with UC Dean Ofelia Mana and Ms. Maleen Grafilo-Ordiz.
The signing ceremony was part of a lively one-day cultural exchange program where students and teachers experienced the beauty of both Japanese and Filipino traditions. They enjoyed Soran Bushi, Carinosa, Japanese Tea Ceremony, Arnis, calligraphy, origami, and traditional games from both countries.
This year’s immersion course was a meaningful experience for everyone. Students not only improved their English skills but also learned about different cultures, made new friends, and created memories they will treasure for years to come.
